You should also give consideration to how you're going to back your system up so when the inevitable malfunction of one sort or another hits, you're not hit with a bigger disaster than need be. I have to tell you that before I read your post, I'd never heard of Insydeflash. I did a Google search to find out what it does. If you have questions about it, you could ask Toshiba. You could do a full system scan with your antivirus program, if you suspect it's not on the up and up. My experience with Toshiba has been pretty good - far from perfect, but among the better ones. Since your computer is new, it's under warranty, but if you get a software problem, that warranty won't help, so be careful and back your system up regularly!

Greetings, all. I had a very similar experience on a new Dell Inspiron 17 laptop running Windows 8. I got an alert from Dell about a necessary upgrade to the BIOS file, and clicked on it - it ran this Insydeflash protocol, and now my Firefox browser refreshes every 20 seconds or so, interrupting typing. I've got a McAfee antivirus that came with the machine, and it didn't flag the file when I ran it, but I'm now at the point where this is totally frustrating. I tried resetting Firefox and that worked the first time, but it didn't work this morning.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this are welcome. You don't know how long of a period between when your laptop was built and you purchased. Sometimes even though you have a new PC there could be updates out there. If you are computer savvy I would look on the Toshiba site under your model and the driver download section and look for the BIOS. It will contain the version and check what your machine has.
